The Dillon Friends of the Library started in 2017 to support the Dillon Public Library. It is the mission of the Dillon Friends of the Library to offer assistance and support tot the needs of the Dillon Public Library. The Friends have adopted a funding policy which identifies projects for which the Dillon Friends group may raise needed monetary support for the library. Friends fundraising activities may be used to enhance the library collection, improve the physical facility, assist with programming expenses, to attract patrons or for any expenditure deemed worthy.
The Friends of the Library have helped the library get proper lighting, heating, installation of heating elements on the disability ramp, create a Makerspace for children and teens, and facilitate the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Friends volunteer with library events such as Pi(e) Day, book sales, the summer reading program, Murder Mystery Dinner, and the Christmas Stroll. The Friends believe in a world where every child can read and that a strong public library is essential for a thriving community. The Friends work together to enrich the resources of the Library for the benefit of all citizens
